The course, "Canadian Civics: Purposeful, Informed, and Active Citizenship," is also a great fit for homeschool co-op groups!

This option is specifically for the leader parent of a co-op group or the teacher of a small school. Below are details of what is included in the purchase.

In this course, you will explore what it means to live as a Christian in community within an ever-changing Canadian culture. The course emphasizes the importance of being a purposeful, informed and active citizen. You will learn about the elements of democracy and the meaning of democratic citizenship in local, provincial, national, and global contexts. In addition, you will learn about other systems of government, discuss social change, examine decision-making processes in Canada, explore beliefs and perspectives on civic questions, and practice thinking and acting critically and creatively about public issues. Most importantly, this course will encourage you to become actively involved in influencing decisions and initiating positive change.

What Will Students Learn?

  • In the first unit, they will learn about the development of democracy, prominent ideologies, and various systems of government.
  • The second unit is focused specifically on how government functions in Canada (eg., elections, parliament, how laws are made, etc.)
  • The final unit will have students put their knowledge into action through investigating current events and completing an active citizenship project.

The Planning is Done for You!

  • The parent leader/teacher of the co-op receives all digital teacher resources through Google Drive. This includes all course resources in digital format, answer keys, tests, Google Quizzes, group activities, and teacher unit guides. (I am a teacher so you would get everything I use in my classroom!)
  • The lead teacher is also provided with a copy of the same workbook the students will be using in the co-op.
  • In addition, a free video conference will be arranged with the lead parent explaining how to use all the course resources and to provide advice on planning! Basically, we make sure you understand everything and are all set to go with your co-op!

Terms of Use:

  • The lead parent/teacher may not share the course resources with other parents unless additional licenses are purchased.
